The Staff Selection Commission has released the official notification for SSC CGL Recruitment 2026-27 on its official website at www.ssc.gov.in. Candidates who are graduates in any discipline can apply from 21st May to 22nd June 2026.
The recruitment is to be done to fill vacancies in Group B and C categories, and this year, the vacancy includes Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer as well, along with others.

The registrations will remain open till 22nd June 2026 (11 PM), and the Tier 1 exam will be held in August-September 2026. SSC CGL Exam Notification – Highlights
- This year, 12,256 vacancies will be filled under the CGL category.
- Candidates who are graduates and within the age limit of 18 to 32 years (as on 1/8/2026) are eligible.
- SSC has introduced sectional timing criteria for Tier 1 and Tier 2.
- This year, there will be 3 papers in Tier 2 (Paper 1 is common for all post, Paper 2 is for JSO and Paper 3 is for AAO).
- Aadhaar Authentication is mandatory.
- The online application process is active from 21st May to 22nd June 2026.
- The salary pay scale ranges from Level 4 to 8.

How many attempts are allowed in SSC CGL?
There is no fixed number of attempts in SSC CGL. Candidates can appear till they meet the age limit and eligibility criteria.
SSC CGL Selection Process
The Selection Process consists of two examination stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. There is no Interview in the process.
Stage 1: Tier 1/Prelims Exam
- The Tier 1 exam is a computer-based test.
- This stage is qualifying in nature, and marks are not added to the final list.
- Only those who qualify in Tier 1, will be called for Tier 2.
Stage 2: Tier 2/Mains Exam
- Like Tier 1, this is also a CBT mode test, and candidates who pass Tier 1, will be eligible for Tier 2.
- It consists of both an Objective paper and a Typing/Skill Test.
- Tier 2 consists of Papers I, II, and III. Paper I is compulsory for all posts, and others are post-specific.
- This stage decides the final merit list.
Stage 3: Answer Key & Objection Process
- SSC will release provisional answer keys and response sheet for both Tier 1 and Tier 2.
- Candidates can check official answers to the questions asked in the exam.
- An objection window will opened and after considering the answer key objections, a final answer key will be released by SSC.
Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)
- SSC will verify educational certificates, category certificates, ID proof, and other required documents.

- The exam mode is completely online
- Questions in Tier 2 are asked in MCQ format only
- There is no descriptive paper in CGL Tier 2 Exam.
- There is a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer.
