SSC CGL Selection Process

The Selection Process consists of two examination stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. There is no Interview in the process.

Stage Process Details
Stage 1 Tier 1 (Prelims Exam)
Computer-Based Test (CBT). This stage is qualifying in nature, and marks are not counted in the final merit list. Candidates who qualify Tier 1 are shortlisted for Tier 2.
Stage 2 Tier 2 (Mains Exam)
Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of Objective Papers and a Typing/Skill Test. Paper I is compulsory for all candidates, while Papers II and III are post-specific. Marks obtained in Tier 2 are considered for the final merit list.
Stage 3 Answer Key & Objection Process
SSC releases provisional answer keys and response sheets for Tier 1 and Tier 2. Candidates can review answers and submit objections within the specified period. After reviewing objections, SSC publishes the final answer key.
Stage 4 Document Verification (DV)
Candidates shortlisted through Tier 2 must undergo document verification. SSC verifies educational qualifications, category certificates, identity proof, and other required documents before final selection.

Tier 2 Exam Pattern

This year, there will be 3 papers in total: Paper 1 is compulsory for all and Paper 2 and 3 are for JSO and AAO post only, respectively.

  • There is no descriptive paper in CGL Tier 2 Exam.
