TANCET Exam 2025
The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test, known as TANCET, is an entrance examination organized for admission to MBA and MCA programs in colleges located in Tamil Nadu state. Anna University administers this state-level entrance examinations every year. Over 200 colleges located in Tamil Nadu consider TANCET scores for admissions.
Annually, over 40,000 aspirants take the TANCET to vie for more than 15,000 seats available at various MCA and MBA institutions in Tamil Nadu. TANCET 2025 exam includes 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed in two hours. DTE, Chennai, conducts the TANCET counselling for MBA admission for eligible candidates.

TANCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria
As TANCET is held for admission to both MBA and MCA programs, their eligibility criteria differ slightly. Check the course-wise eligibility requirements below.
TANCET 2025 MCA Eligibility Criteria
Qualification: Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree lasting at least three years in BCA or B.Sc (IT/ CSE/ comparable). Alternatively, candidates possessing a three-year bachelor’s degree, not mentioned here, who have studied Mathematics at either the 10+2 level or during their graduation, are also qualified. Candidates qualify if they have finished their education in any of the following patterns:
- 10+2+3/4/5 years pattern, or
- 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years Pattern, or
- B.E/B.Tech/B. Pharm/B. Arch, or
- 10+2+ AMIE, or
- 10+3 year diploma (awarded by SBTE) + AMIE
Qualifying Exam Marks: Candidates applying must have obtained 50% marks (45% marks for reserved category) in their qualifying degree.
Age Limit: There is no age limit to apply for the program
TANCET 2025 MBA Eligibility Requirements
Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration from any recognized educational institution. Candidates are eligible to apply for TANCET MBA exam if they have completed their education in any of the following patterns:
- 10+2+3/4/5 years pattern, or
- 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years Pattern, or
- B.E/B.Tech/B. Pharm/B. Arch, or
- 10+2+ AMIE, or
- 10+3 year diploma (awarded by SBTE) + AMIE
Qualifying Exam Marks: Students must have completed their undergraduate degree with at least 50 percent marks (40 percent marks for reserved categories).
Appearing Candidates: Candidates in their final year can also apply if they fulfill the qualifying exam and marks criteria.

TANCET 2025 Exam Pattern
Candidates who are going to take the TANCET exam in 2025 must have a proper understanding of its exam pattern. The main highlights of the TANCET exam pattern has been shared below.
- Exam Mode: The exam will be held in offline mode (pen and paper-based exam).
- Exam Duration: The duration of 2 hours will be given to solve the question paper for both MBA and MCA.
- No. of Questions: A total number of 100 questions will be present in both MCA & MBA courses.
- Maximum Marks: The maximum marks will be of 100 marks.
- Exam Medium: The exam paper will be available in English and Tamil Languages.
- Types of Questions: The question paper will consist of only objective questions, i.e., Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be given for each correct response and ⅓ marks will be deducted for every incorrect answers. No marks will be awarded or deducted for un-attempted/un-answered questions.
