Admissions to the 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 29 other government-funded technical colleges are handled through a single process based on JEE Main ranks, while admissions to the 23 IITs are handled through JEE Advanced ranks.

After the announcement of the JEE Advanced results on October 15, 2021, the counselling dates will be revealed. While the JoSAA website for 2021 counselling has yet to be enabled, the JEE Advanced website lists the JoSAA counselling start date as October 16, 2021.

Students must also submit personal information and papers, such as JEE Main subject-wise marks, percentages, Class 12 mark sheets, birth certificates, and caste certificates.

The procedure is as follows:

  • To begin, you must first register for JEE Main counselling. The JEE Main application number and password are used for this.
  • Students enter their course and college preferences in the second phase. JoSAA offers two simulated seat allotments to help students understand how their choice filling went and what their seat allotments will be like. Students can double-check their work and gain a greater understanding of the process.
  • The allotment is based on the JEE Main scores, category, and college preferences, among other factors.
  • Candidates must download it after it is announced. They must also accept the seat and signal their readiness to keep it with the freeze option, and/or then look for an upgrade to a higher choice in the next round with float option, or choose a different course at the same institute with slide option.
  • To continue in the counselling process, candidates who have been assigned seats must pay the seat acceptance fee and complete the other criteria. Candidates from the reserved categories (SC/ST and even PWD) must pay Rs 15,000, while others must pay Rs 35,000. This can be changed depending on the academic charge. The cost includes Rs. 2000 JoSAA processing fee.
