CBSE Term 1 Board Exam Mode Online or Offline: Student Move Supreme Court for a hybrid option

The plea, which was filed by six students who would be taking the board exams, alleged that the boards’ entire exercise of conducting term one or semester one examinations in offline mode only is patently unreasonable and that they should instead be conducted in hybrid mode, with the option to choose between offline and online examinations.
Sumanth Nookala, an advocate, filed the plea.
The plea states, “Consent assumes significance as exams directly relate to the mental health of the petitioners requiring a conducive and voluntary atmosphere to ensure a fair assessment. It is common knowledge that the third wave of COVID pandemic is predicted.”
It further states, “Even if the respondents (boards and others) wanted to conduct the examinations on the said dates, it had sufficient time and resources to plan it carefully and consider the concerns raised in the present petition.”
The suggested existing approach of offline assessment is ‘fraught with faulty design and a lack of application of mind,’ according to the report, which will further bias students.
