As per the updates, the Central Board of Secondary Education has revised the CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 for Classes 10,12. According to the Revised CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 Students will get more multiple-choice questions, or MCQs, for the CBSE Board Examinations next year, 2024. The changes in CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 include a greater emphasis on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and a decrease in the weightage allocated to short- and long-answer questions.

According to an official announcement issued on April 6, 2023, the new CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 has been implemented in keeping with the recommendations of the National Education Policy, NEP 2020. These modifications are consistent with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which prioritizes creative and critical thinking abilities over rote learning.

CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 – Introduction of More Competency-based Questions

Along with the Revised CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024, The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also released a revised evaluation and assessment for the year-end board examinations for classes 9 to 12.

The board has released revised evaluation criteria that place a focus on competency-based education in order to align the curriculum with National Education Policy 2020. As a result, there will be more competency-based questions or questions that evaluate the application of concepts in real-life situations on the question paper.

Based on the new Revised CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2023 criteria, CBSE will raise the proportion of MCQ-based questions for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12 from 2023 to 24. Structured answer questions (Short Answer Questions/Long Answer Type Questions, as per existing pattern) would be 30% for Classes 9 and 10, and 40% for Classes 11 and 12.

According to the revised Revised CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 for Class 10, CBSE will increase the weightage of competency-based questions answered in the year-end examinations or final exams of Class 9 and Class 10th board exams. 50% of the exam questions will be competency-based, consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Case-Based Questions, Source Based Integrated Questions, or any other type. These questions would constitute 30% of the paper for the academic session 2022-2023. The competency-based questions will be in the form of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern 2024

According to the revised Revised CBSE Board Exam Pattern 2024 for Class 12, competency-based questions in the form of MCQs, Source-based questions, or Case study-based questions would make up 40% of the paper of Classes 11 and 12 Board Examinations, For the academic year 2023–2024, the papers for the class 11 year-end exam and the 12th board exam will consist of 40% competency-based questions, 20% objective questions, and 40% short answer/long answer type questions.
