Question

The product of the roots of the quadratic equation 6 – 5x² – 8x = 0 is:

A.

-8/5

B.

8/5

C.

6/5

D.

-6/5

Correct option is D

Given-

65x28x=06 - 5x^2 -8x = 0

Concept Used:

For a quadratic equation of the form ax2+bx+c=0ax^2 + bx + c = 0

product of the roots = ca\frac{c}{a}.

Solution:

Changing the equation in general form;

5x2+8x6=05x^2 + 8x - 6 = 0

In this case, a = 5 and c = -6.

Therefore, the product of the roots is: 65\frac{-6}{5}
