RRB Technician 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for RRB Technician posts must fulfil the required eligibility criteria, including age limit, nationality, and educational qualification.
Age Limit (As on 1/7/2026)
The age limit for Technician Grade 1 is 18 to 33 years, and for Technician Grade 3 is 18 to 30 years. Reserved category candidates will receive age relaxation as per government rules.

RRB Technician Grade 1 and 3 Salary
The starting salary of a Technician Grade I Signal is Rs. 29,200, and for Grade 3 is Rs. 19,900. After adding allowances and perks, the salary rises. Overall, RRB offers a good amount of salary in the starting period.

RRB Technician 2026 CBT Pattern
The exam pattern for Grade 1 and Grade 3 is slightly different, and for your reference, the post-wise exam pattern, marking scheme, and duration are mentioned here.
Technician Grade I Exam Pattern
The Tech Grade 1 CBT is an objective-type test consisting of 100 questions worth 100 marks. The duration of the test is 90 minutes, and a penalty of 1/3rd will be applied for each incorrect answer. See the table below for the complete exam pattern:

How to Apply for RRB Technician Grade I and III?
RRB will start accepting online applications for the Technician post from 30th June 2026 onwards, and the process will continue till 29th July 2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates will be able to apply from www.rrbapply.gov.in, and no other mode of application will be accepted.
Follow these steps to apply for Technician grade 1 and 3 posts:
- Go to www.rrbapply.gov.in.
- If you do not have an account, then click on “Create an Account”. To do so, you need to fill in your number and email ID.
- Once the account is created, log in again and click on RRB Technician CEN No. 02/2026.
- Fill out the application form with educational and personal details.
- Upload a live photo, a passport-size photo, and a signature. (Photo must be the latest and clear)
- Pay the application fee
- Take a final view of the application form.
- Submit the form and take a printout of it.
