Odisha Government Approves 4433 Nursing Officer Posts
The approval of 4,433 posts is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the healthcare workforce in both urban and rural regions. With increasing patient load and expanding healthcare programmes, the state has identified the need for more trained nursing staff to ensure smooth functioning of hospitals, community health centres, and sub-health units. These posts will be added to the Odisha Nursing Service, significantly increasing the availability of skilled nursing professionals.
Nursing Officers to Be Appointed as Community Health Officers
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, the newly appointed Nursing Officers will serve as Community Health Officers (CHO). After recruitment, they will be deployed at Ayushman Arogya Mandir sub-health centres across the state. Their role will focus on delivering essential healthcare services, supporting community-level health initiatives, and improving access to quality care in remote and underserved areas. This move is expected to strengthen primary healthcare infrastructure and enhance preventive health services.
Aim to Improve Patient Care and Strengthen Healthcare Coordination
The government emphasized that the creation of these posts will lead to improved patient care, better nursing management, and enhanced coordination within healthcare teams. With additional staffing, hospitals and health centres will be able to function more efficiently, reduce workload pressure on existing staff, and offer timely medical support to patients. Overall, this initiative is set to elevate the quality of nursing services and strengthen Odisha’s public health system.
