Public Service Undertaking

Engineering Government Jobs: The candidates who are engineering graduates can work for Public Service Undertaking as an engineer in various disciplines. Every year public sector undertakings recruit for various vacancies as engineers. Engineering Graduates can apply through GATE for most of the Public Sector Undertakings. Engineering Services Examination 

Engineering Services Examination: The UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION almost every year recruits engineering graduates under Engineering Services Examination. This is an amazing opportunity for engineers of various disciplines as this is a government job with job security, growth opportunity, Respect and authority. The competition for this exam is very high. The Questions asked in this exam are the toughest as the candidates are recruited as officers in various government organizations like the Central Public Works Department, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Directorate General of Supply and Disposals, Indian Navy, etc.

State Civil Services Examination: State Governments also recruit engineering graduates under respective state civil services. Other Civil Services exams like IAS, IPS, IFS, etc. are also good opportunities for Engineering Graduates.

Indian Railways

Indian Railways have a very good number of engineering government job vacancies. The engineering graduates would have to clear an entrance exam conducted almost every year by the Railway Recruitment Board or Indian Engineering Services Exam conducted by UPSC to get an engineering job in Indian Railways.

The different engineering posts in Indian Railways are locomotive engineer, locomotive superintendent, senior section engineers, signal and interlocking engineer, wagon engineer, junior engineer, railroad engineer, etc. The average annual income of the senior section engineer is about Rs.7 lacs.

National Banks

Bank jobs in india are one of the most sorted government jobs in terms of high salary and job security. The National Banks have vacancies for Specialist IT Officer for which they recruit Computer Science/Information Technology and ECE Engineers. The selection for various engineering vacancies happens almost evry year through a common entrance examination like IBPS. Many Public Sector banks have their own entrance exam and selection procedure to recruit engineers.

PSU Banks like State Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Reserve Bank of India, and various Regional and Rural Banks recruit engineers almost every year.

Indian Armed Forces

The Indian Armed Forces include Indian Army, the Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. They hire a lot of engineers in various disciplines. The engineering graduates can apply to the technical officer’s post and the selection would be on a merit basis. The Indian Armed Forces also allows candidates to give a separate entrance exam known as the Combined Defense Services Exam (CDS) followed by Service Selection Board and Medical Examination. It is conducted almost twice a year and only unmarried engineering graduates are eligible to apply for this exam.

After the selection process for a particular engineering exam is completed, the engineering graduates are given training in their respective branches of armed forces and are inducted as officers after completing the training. The National Defense Academy gives high stature and living standards with a well-paying job. The salary for Assistant Commandant, Deputy Commandant, and Commandant ranges from Rs.15,600 to Rs.39,100 per month. The grade pay varies with the position and discipline of engineering.

Staff Selection Commission

The engineering graduates can apply for Junior engineering vacancies in various branches of engineering announced almost every under the official notification of recruitment for junior engineers by the Staff Selection Commission.

GATE Exam 2022

GATE Exam 2022: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is one of the most reputed examinations in India. It opens so many opportunities for candidates to grow their careers. GATE Exam 2022 is a computer-based standardized test conducted at the national level in India with an aim to examine the understanding of students in subjects like Engineering and Science.

IIT Kharagpur is the conducting authority for GATE Exam 2022.  GATE Exam 2022 is for the candidates who are aspiring to get admission into M.E./M.Tech/Ph.D. at the IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. GATE Score 2022 is also useful for getting a reputed job as an engineer in some Public Sector Undertakings. GATE 2022 Score would be valid for three years after the announcement of GATE Result 2022.

Government Lecturer/ University Professors

The engineering graduates can pursue M.tech and then after taking the National Eligibility Test, young engineering post-graduates can join national universities as lecturers and associate professors. The engineering government jobs come with their own perks of status and stability while giving the opportunity to persistently increase one’s knowledge and aptitude through teaching others. Lecturers can also do research that is usually funded by the government through JRF AND SRF.  The earnings for these engineering vacancies range from Rs.2 Lacs to Rs.6 Lacs annually.

Indian Space Research Organization

The organization which aims to take India to greater heights. ISRO is harnessing space technology for national interest, while pursuing space science analysis and planetary exploration. Engineering careers at ISRO would entail designing and developing launch vehicles, satellites, and related technologies for providing access to space. There is a special test: ISRO Centralized Recruitment Board (ICRB) to get a job as an engineer at ISRO. The wage for this position ranges from Rs.3 Lacs to Rs.10 Lacs annually.

Defense Research and Development Organization

According to the Government of India, DRDO conducts all the Research and Development of the Ministry of Defense, Government of India. DRDO has the vision to empower India with high tech defense technologies and a mission to attain self-reliance in essential defense technologies and systems.

DRDO is a wide network of over fifty laboratories. These laboratories are deeply engaged in developing defense technologies. DRDO covers infinite disciplines, like astronautics, armaments, electronics, combat vehicles, missiles, special materials, naval systems, life sciences, training, information systems, engineering systems, advanced computing and simulation, instrumentation, and agriculture.

DRDO employs engineering graduates as highly qualified and competent scientists and engineering graduates who constitute the Group ‘A’ (Class I Gazetted) Service known as Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS).
