2.Horticulture Park to Attract Foreign Tourists in Tiruvannamalai

• Tiruvannamalai welcomes its first Horticulture Park on a nine-acre plot near Arunachaleswarar temple, designed primarily to cater to foreign tourists.
• The park offers a large lush green lawn, a meditation centre, a 1.1 km-long tiled walking track, seating arrangements, purified water supply, toilets, rainwater harvesting system, and CCTV cameras.
• Specialised facilities for children and persons with disabilities, solar-powered lights, and steel wire fencing to protect against wild animals add to the park’s appeal.

3.Tiruppur Observes Theeran Chinnamalai Memorial Day

• On August 3, Tiruppur district in TamilNadu pays homage to Theeran Chinnamalai, a fearless freedom fighter who valiantly fought against British colonial rule during the Anglo-Mysore Wars.
• As a mark of respect, all government offices and educational institutions in Tiruppur will remain closed on this significant day.

4.Tamil Nadu Initiates Thozhi Hostels for Working Women:

• The Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment in Tamil Nadu has launched eleven Thozhi hostels in various districts.
• Operated by the Tamil Nadu Working Women’s Hostel Corporation Ltd (TNWWHCL).
• The hostels named “Thozhi” (translates to a female friend).
• Chief Minister MK Stalin praised the initiative, highlighting its contribution to women’s development programs in the state, including property rights, reservation in local government, and other welfare schemes.
• The Thozhi hostels are strategically located in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Salem, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Villupuram, Perambalur, and Thanjavur, ensuring accessibility for working women across different regions.
