Previous Years’ Topper Trends
To see the NEET 2025 topper list, let’s go through the past years:
NEET 2024: 17 candidates got AIR 1 with a score of 720/720, garnering a 99.9971285 percentile. Rajasthan topped the list with four toppers, followed by Maharashtra (three) and Delhi (two).
NEET 2023: Prabanjan J (Tamil Nadu, General) and Bora Varun Chakravarthi (Andhra Pradesh, OBC) obtained AIR 1 with a score of 720/720 and a 99.9999019 percentile.
NEET 2022: Tanishka (Rajasthan) with 715/720, as the difficulty of the exam made a perfect score impossible.
The toughness of the 2025 exam, and especially Physics, indicates no perfect scores this year following the 2022 trend.
Tie-Breaking Criteria for NEET 2025
Since there can be more than one candidate with the same marks, the NTA implements a systematic process of tie-breaking for NEET 2025:
Higher Biology Score: Students with better marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology) are placed higher.
Higher Chemistry Score: In case of the tie continuing, Chemistry scores are matched.
Higher Physics Score: Physics scores are then taken into account.
Fewer Incorrect Answers: People with fewer incorrect answers in all subjects are given priority.
Subject-Specific Incorrect Answers: Priority is then given to candidates with fewer incorrect answers in Biology, then in Chemistry, then in Physics.
Random Selection: In case all these criteria fail, a random process under the supervision of an independent committee decides the rank.
Notably, the age-based tie-breaker used in previous years has been scrapped for 2025.
