CBSE Partners With Facebook For Curriculum On Digital Safety, Augmented Reality

CBSE And Facebook Partner To Launch Digital Safety: The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has partnered with Facebook to launch curriculum on “Augmented Reality” and “Digital Safety and Online Wellbeing” for students as well as the teachers. While making the announcement, the HRD minister tweeted that, “I congratulate CBSE and Facebook on its partnership to introduce certified programmes in Augmented Reality for teachers and Digital Safety and online-wellbeing for students. While interacting with the media, an official from CBSE added that the purpose of the new curriculum is to comprehensively cover the aspects of online well-being of the students and prepare them for the future of work. The officer was quoted as saying, “The modules are for secondary school students. The curriculum is now available on the CBSE website. This partnership is led by Facebook for Education, a global initiative by Facebook, to build diverse learning communities and bring the world closer together.” The official further added that “As more and more young users get online, it becomes important to educate young adults, and students on making well-informed choices online and also help them develop skills they need to safely navigate the internet.” Check | National Yoga Quiz Competition, Registration Until 20th July

CBSE Partner With Facebook: AR Curriculum Details

As per the details shared by the officials, the curriculum has been designed in a way so as to cover various essential aspects like privacy, safety, mental health and building healthy digital habits. This module will be guiding the students towards becoming responsible digital users as well as become capable to identify and report threats, misinformation, and harassment. The training will be imparted by the Centre for Social Research and will originally cover more than 10,000 students. Check | NCERT Solutions For Class 9

The officials also elaborated on the initiative to introduce AR in the curriculum. The officials added that, “Also, as part of the collaboration, Facebook will support CBSE in its first-ever initiative to introduce Artificial Reality (AR) as a curriculum. In the first phase, 10,000 teachers will be trained while 30,000 students will undergo the same in the second phase. The three-week training, to be conducted in batches, will cover fundamentals of AR and ways to utilise Facebook’s software, Spark AR Studio in order to create augmented reality experiences.”
