Question

The area of a trapezium is 480 cm2, the distance between two parallel sides is 15 cm and one of the parallel side is 20 cm.The other parallel side is:

A.

20 cm

B.

34 cm

C.

44 cm

D.

50 cm

Correct option is C

Given:

The area of a trapezium is 480 cm2, the distance between two parallel sides is 15 cm and one of the parallel side is 20 cm .

Formula used:

Area of Trapezium = 12×(Base sum)×height\frac{1}{2}\times (\text{Base sum})\times \mathrm{height}

Area = 12×(m+n)×h\frac{1}{2}\times (m+n)\times h

Where,

m is one base side

n is other base side

h is height.

Solution:

Area = 480 cm2

h = 15 cm

m = 20 cm

480 = 12×(20+n)×15\frac{1}{2}\times (20+n)\times 15

(20 + n ) × 15 = 480 × 2

300 + 15n = 960

15n = 960 - 300

15n = 660

n = 66015\frac{660}{15}

n = 44

Hence, length of other parallel side is 44 cm.

Thus, the correct answer is (c).
