Question

The area of a trapezium is 330 cm², if the lengths of its parallel sides are 24 cm and 20 cm, find the distance between the parallel sides.

A.

10 cm

B.

25 cm

C.

15 cm

D.

20 cm

Correct option is C

Given:

Area of trapezium = 330 cm²

Length of one parallel side (a) = 24 cm

Length of other parallel side (b) = 20 cm

Distance between the parallel sides (height, h) = ?

Formula Used:

Area of a trapezium =12×(Sum of parallel sides)×Height \frac{1}{2} \times (\text{Sum of parallel sides}) \times \text{Height}

Solution:

Substitute the values into the formula:

330 =12×(24+20)×h= \frac{1}{2} \times (24 + 20) \times h

330 =12×44×h= \frac{1}{2} \times 44 \times h

330 = 22h

h =33022= \frac{330}{22} = 15 cm
