Question

An object is in the form of a trapezium with height 5 m and parallel sides being 4 m and 6 m. What is the cost of painting the object if the rate of painting is ₹50 per square metre.

A.

₹1,000/-

B.

₹1,250/-

C.

₹1,200/-

D.

₹800/-

Correct option is B

Given:

Shape: Trapezium

Height (h): 5 m

Parallel sides (a and b): 4 m and 6 m

Painting rate: ₹50 per square metre

Formula Used:

Area of a Trapezium =12×(a+b)×h \frac{1}{2} \times (a + b) \times h

Total Cost =Area×Rate per square metre \text{Area} \times \text{Rate per square metre}

Solution:

Area = 12×(4 m+6 m)×5 m=12×10 m×5 m=25 m2\frac{1}{2} \times (4\,\text{m} + 6\,\text{m}) \times 5\,\text{m} = \frac{1}{2} \times 10\,\text{m} \times 5\,\text{m} = 25\,\text{m}^2

Total Cost =25 m2×50/m2=1250= 25\,\text{m}^2 \times ₹50/\text{m}^2 = ₹1250
