Find the sum of the roots of the quadratic equation 7x² + 28x + 1 = 0.
Question

Find the sum of the roots of the quadratic equation 7x² + 28x + 1 = 0.

A.

28

B.

-1/7

C.

1

D.

– 4

Correct option is D

Given :

7x2+28x+1=07x^2+28x+1=0

Concept Used:

General form :-  ax2+bx+c=0ax^2+bx+c=0

the sum of the roots (SSS) is given by:

S=baS=-\frac{b}{a}

Solution:

Equation:

 7x2+28x+1=07x^2+28x+1=0

Here, a=7a = 7a=7, b=28b = 28b=28, and c=1c = 1c=1.

Substitute these values into the formula:

S=287S=-\frac{28}{7}= - 4

The sum of the roots of the quadratic equation  7x2+28x+1=07x^2+28x+1=0 is   - 4 .

The correct answer is option ( d ) -4

S=−287S = -\frac{28}{7}
