The Preliminary exam will be an objective type (MCQ) and serves as a Screening test. There is a negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer.

WBP SI Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
After qualifying the preliminary exam and physical measurement test (PMT), candidates have to appear for the physical efficiency test (PET). The test is conducted to assess the candidate’s physical fitness and endurance.

WBP SI Selection Process 2025
To select the most suitable candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI), the West Bengal Police (WBP) follows a well-structured selection procedure. This process helps ensure that only qualified and capable candidates are chosen from thousands of applicants.
The WBP SI Selection Process 2025 consists of five stages, and candidates must qualify in each stage to move forward and secure the final selection. The stages are as follows:

Preliminary Examination (Prelims):
This is the first stage of the selection process, conducted to shortlist candidates for the next stages. It includes objective-type questions covering general studies, logical reasoning, and numerical ability. -
Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
In this stage, the physical standards of candidates—such as height, weight, and chest measurement—are verified according to the official criteria. -
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Candidates who pass the PMT must take part in the PET, which tests their physical fitness through running or other physical tasks. -
Final Combined Competitive Examination:

Personality Test:
