The selection process of IGMCRI Nursing Officer will be completely based on the individual qualification of the candidates, the selection will mainly depend on three factors:
- Marks obtained in Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent
- Marks obtained in the Degree in Nursing / Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent
Along with this candidates can get additional marks for completed years of registration in the Employment Exchange, Puducherry and COVID 19 Duty.
IGMCRI Nursing Officer Selection Process 2025 Detailed Explanation
The selection process for the IGMCRI Nursing Officer Recruitment 2025 is entirely merit-based, with no written examination or interview involved. Candidates will be shortlisted purely on the basis of their academic performance, employment exchange seniority, and additional incentive marks awarded for COVID-19 duty. A total of 120 marks will be considered for preparing the final merit list, ensuring that the entire procedure is transparent and fair evaluation of all eligible applicants have been done.
Academic Qualification Marks (100 Marks Total)
In the IGMCRI Nursing Officer Selection Process 2025, academic qualification account for a total weightage of 100 marks, making it the most significant factor in determining a candidate’s merit. These marks will be calculated as follows:
- 50% of marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination (or equivalent)
- 50% of marks obtained in the Degree in Nursing / Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or equivalent.
- A 5% deduction will be applied to the candidate’s total educational score for each additional attempt made to either pass or improve marks in any subject or semester
Employment Exchange Seniority (Up To 15 marks)
Candidates can get extra marks for every completed year of registration in the Employment Exchange, Puducherry
- A candidate will get 1.5 marks for every completed year after registering your Nursing qualification in the Puducherry Employment Exchange.
- However, candidates must note that their registration must be live and valid with regular renewals, otherwise no additional marks will be awarded.
COVID-19 Duty Marks (Up To 5 marks)
If a candidate has worked as a nurse or medical staff during the COVID pandemic in a government hospital or health center, then they will get extra marks as a reward. The incentive marks will be awarded as follows:

Tie Breaking Procedure
If two candidates are tied and have scored equal marks as per the above process, then they will go through a tie breaking procedure, the tie will be resolved as per the following criteria:
- Date of birth, with older candidate will be placed higher.
- If both are of the same age, names are arranged in alphabetical order
Calculation Of Final Merit
The qualifying marks will be calculated as per this formula:
Final Qualifying Marks (out of 120) = (H.Sc. Marks out of 50) + (Degree/Diploma Marks out of 50) + (Employment Exchange Seniority Marks out of 15) + (COVID Duty Marks out of 5)
Candidates must note that the marks will be rounded to two decimal places wherever applicable.

Candidates selected for the Post of Nursing Officer will have to go through a probation period of TWO years from the date of joining the post as per Recruitment Rules.
