According to a recent circular issued by the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA), public sector banks are expected to recruit over 22,325 clerks during the financial year 2026-27. The information has been shared based on recruitment indents placed by banks for the upcoming year.
The circular mentions that the IBPS has supplied 15,736 recruitment dossiers for the hiring of Customer Service Associates (CSA), commonly known as bank clerks, in 11 public sector banks. These recruitments are expected to take place between April 2026 and March 2027.
15,736 Clerk Vacancies Through IBPS
As per the notice, the 15,736 vacancies will be filled through the IBPS recruitment process for clerical posts. The vacancies have been distributed across several public sector banks, including:
- Bank of Baroda
- Bank of India
- Bank of Maharashtra
- Canara Bank
- Central Bank of India
- Indian Bank
- Indian Overseas Bank
- Punjab National Bank
- Punjab & Sind Bank
- UCO Bank
- Union Bank of India
These banks have collectively placed recruitment indents for clerical positions to be filled through the IBPS selection process.
Total Vacancies May Reach 22,325, Including SBI
Apart from the IBPS recruitments, the State Bank of India has also placed an indent for 6,589 clerk vacancies. When these posts are combined with the IBPS recruitments, the total number of bank clerk vacancies expected in 2026–27 rises to around 22,325.
This large-scale hiring is expected to create significant job opportunities for candidates preparing for banking exams across India.
