The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 Exam has officially started today, February 7, 2026. The GATE Admit Card for the exam scheduled in February 2026 has been declared on the official website. The CBT will be conducted across many exam centres under 8 IIT zones. Candidates must carry their admit card with a valid photo ID to the exam centre. Candidates are advised to download and print their hall tickets in advance to avoid last-minute technical issues. NOTE: The computer-based test will be conducted across 235 exam centres under 8 IIT zones in 2 shifts. The morning shift(9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and the afternoon shift (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM).

- Visit the official portal at gate2026.iitg.ac.in or go directly to the GOAPS login page at goaps.iitg.ac.in/login.

What to Check on Your GATE Admit Card to Avoid Last Minute Mistakes?
Before printing out your Admit Card, candidates must verify that all the information is accurate, clear and visible.
• Candidates’ Information: Candidates must confirm that their information, such as name, photograph and signature are clear and matches their application.
• Exam Related: Candidates must check the GATE paper code, exam date and their shift timing.
• Exam Centre Details: Candidates must check the examination centre code, the complete postal address and locality of the exam centre to reach in time.
• Conflict: If candidates find the photo or signature is blurry, or if there are any other mistakes in their admit card, they can email it to their nearest zonal IIT immediately for correction.
Essential Guidelines for GATE 2026 Exam Day
- Candidates should reach the examination centre at least 90 minutes before the scheduled exam time to complete entry formalities and verification smoothly.
- Carrying a valid GATE 2026 Hall Ticket is mandatory as entry will not be allowed without it.
- Personal calculators are not permitted and a virtual scientific calculator will be provided on the computer screen during the exam.
- Avoid bringing electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, smart watches, fitness bands or Bluetooth devices. Such items may lead to the cancellation of candidature.
- Candidates should reach the exam centre at least 1 hour before the exam starts. This helps avoid rush or confusion at the last moment.
- Candidate login on the computer will start 20 minutes before the exam. Use this time to read the instructions carefully.
- Late entry is not allowed. If a candidate comes 10-15 minutes after the exam has begun, they will not be permitted to enter the exam hall.
- Leaving the exam hall in the middle of the GATE 2026 Exam is not allowed. Candidates must stay till the exam is completely over.

- Printed or handwritten study material, including books, notes, formula sheets or any textual content, is not permitted inside the exam hall under any circumstances.
