How are the XAT Scores 2026 calculated?
The XAT 2026 percentile computation is based on the XLRI standardized process, which strives to ensure fairness among the different sessions of the exam by integrating the raw scores of the three main sections:
- Verbal and logical abilities (VALR), quantitative aptitude and data interpretation (QADI), and decision-making (DM).
- The method begins with calculating the raw score using a marking scheme of +1 for correct answers, -0.25 for incorrect responses, and -0.1 for each question not attempted beyond 8.
- GK is not considered in the primary percentile.
Unlike the CAT exam, XAT has only one slot, there is no scaled score. Your percentiles will only be determined using your raw score.
XAT Raw Score Counting
Raw foundation scores before normalization. For example, with 60 correct, 15 incorrect, and 12 unattempted (4 beyond 8),
the score is: (60 × 1) + (15 × -0.25) + (4 × -0.1) = 60 – 3.75 – 0.4 = 55.85 out of 75 for main portions.
XAT Percentile Formula.
The formula is: Percentile = [(Total Candidates (N) – Candidate’s Rank (R)) / N] × 100, with rank ties sharing slots.
Example: With N=100,000 and R=2,000, Percentile = [(100,000 – 2,000)/100,000] × 100 = 98 percentile, indicating 98% scored below. Results are rounded to two decimals and applied post-exam via the official scorecard.
