TNEA Rank List 2025

The TNEA Rank List 2025 is based on candidates’ Class 12 (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) marks, which are normalised in accordance with TNEA criteria. The rank list sets the order of merit for counselling and seat allocation at Anna University’s government, government-aided, and private engineering colleges.  In the event of a tie in the TNEA 2025 Rank List , between the ranks of two or more candidates, the inter-se merit is calculated using a set of factors, including the assignment of a random number. Shortlisted candidates can engage in the TNEA 2025 counselling procedure, which involves choice filling, seat assignment, seat confirmation, and reporting to the assigned college.

How TNEA 2025 Merit List prepared?

The TNEA 2025 merit list will be compiled using total scaled marks of 200. The administration will cut the total marks to 200 in order to rank students. Mathematics will have the most weightage. The remaining will be divided between Physics and Chemistry, as shown below:

  • Physics (50) + Chemistry (50)= 100.
  • Mathematics =  100.

How does Normalization Influence TNEA Rank List?

The marks obtained by students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examinations conducted by various boards or authorities will be equated with the marks obtained by students in the same subjects in the qualifying examinations conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu using the normalisation method. The normalisation method used in TNEA Rank list is stated below

  • If a student’s highest mark in Physics from the State Board of Tamil Nadu is 100 and the highest score from any other Board in the same subject is 90, both top marks are deemed equivalent to 100.
  • If a student from another board receives 60 marks in Physics but the first mark in Physics in the same board is 90, 60 marks will be deemed equal to 66.66 marks, as calculated below:
    (100 X 60)/90 = 66.66%
  • Following the normalisation of marks in the relevant topics in the qualifying examination administered by separate Boards, qualified students shall be consolidated into a common merit list.
  • Aspirants who have qualified from National Boards, such as CBSE and ISCE, would be considered for the TNEA 2025 normalisation procedure based only on their highest mark in the appropriate subject at the National Level.
  • Candidates from other boards must submit the highest marks obtained in the relevant disciplines.
  • If marks are not available before preparing a rank, the highest grades obtained in that board exam will be deemed 100%.
