School News Odisha: The Coronavirus Pandemic is still spreading extremely quickly across the country and this has prompted the government to continue with some of its strict measures. The education sector across all the states is reeling under the impact of the nationwide lockdown. Same is the story with Odisha, which has been seriously affected by the pandemic, and the schools across the state have been shut since March. Earlier, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mr. Naveen Patnaik had stated that the schools and colleges in Odisha will stay closed till 17th June 2020.
But as the situation across the state is worsening and the Coronavirus Pandemic is spreading quickly, the government has decided that the schools will remain shut till the end of June 2020. This intimation was shared with the media by the Chief Secretary of Odisha, Mr. A K Tripathy. The decision has been taken that fresh cases of Coronavirus infection have emerged from the 19 districts out of 30 in the state. In such a situation students have no other option but to continue their education through the available online and offline resources. It is not possible for the government to resume classroom sessions until the situation normalizes.
School News: Odisha To Enforce The LockDown Rules Strictly
During his interaction with the media, the Chief Secretary stated, “No religious congregation will be permitted till June 30 this year and religious institutions will remain closed till the end of June in the state. School, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed in the state till July 31.” As the spread of the pandemic is showing no signs of slowing down, the Odisha government has not given many relaxations in the fifth version of the lockdown. All social congregations must be avoided across all the districts. In order to curb the spread of the pandemic, the state government has announced a two-day lockdown for every week of June across 11 districts in the state. The decision of the state government to continue the lockdown is contrary to various relaxations announced by the central government but is necessary in the wake of the ongoing situation. Fines To Be Levied Against People Who Do Not Comply
The Chief Secretary further added that, “Night curfew will continue in the state from 7 pm to 7 am, instead of 9 pm to 5 am as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs.” Along with schools and colleges, all coaching institutions, shopping malls, cinema halls, religious places will also remain closed during the lockdown. People roaming outside without face masks will be fined Rs. 500 each time for the first two offenses but another repeat of the offense would attract a fine of Rs. 1000.
