Manodarpan: HRD Minister Launches Student Counselling Initiative to Help Kids Manage Stress Better

Monodarpan: Due to the extended lockdown and closing down of the schools ever since March 2020, students are under extreme stress regarding their future. In order to offer the right advice to the students and help them manage the stress levels better, the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will be launching the Manodarpan Initiative of the government today i.e. 21st July 2020. Intimating the people about the launch, the HRD minister tweeted that, “Now the results are out, and admissions have started, children would be having psychosocial issues, especially during these unprecedented times of COVID-19. To address such concerns, I am launching #MANODARPAN tomorrow at 11 AM.” R Sanjay Dhotare, the HRD Minister of state also tweeted that, “With children being more vulnerable to stress, anxiety & fearfulness during these trying times, teachers & families can go a long way in mitigating such concerns. #MANODARPAN is a platform to facilitate Psychosocial Support for #MentalHealth & #Wellbeing. Manodarpan: Continued And Holistic Psychological Support

The HRD Ministry has taken several initiatives since the lockdown to help the students, teachers, and parents manage their stress levels during these trying times. This new initiative from the government would focus on the academic front as well as the mental and emotional well-being of the students. By offering the necessary psychological support to the students at the right time, the government aims to ensure that the mental health of the students remains positive. The government has also started a nation-wide toll-free helpline number to help the students ask any questions and queries that they may be having regarding their studies as well as other emotional aspects as well as psychological issues. This helpline is managed by experienced mental health professionals including psychologists and counsellors. 

Manodarpan: Initiative Under The Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan

The initiative of Manodarpan has been started under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Along with the toll-free helpline number, the HRD ministry has developed a comprehensive website for the initiative which includes numerous useful resources like posters, videos, practical tips, and other important do’s and don’ts to ensure continued psychological support for the students. There is a dedicated FAQ section as well along with an online query system that enables the students to get solutions to any problems that they are facing. Also Read |

Moreover, as the examination results have also just been announced by various boards, many students are facing extreme stress. This initiative will provide them an opportunity to discuss their doubts and resolve their apprehensions.
