The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the tentative CBSE date sheet 2026 for the Class 10th and 12th board examinations on Wednesday. According to the schedule, major exams for Class 10 and 12 board students will begin on February 17 next year. Around 45 lakh students from India and abroad are expected to sit CBSE board exams in 2026. Following the successful completion of the exam, the Class 10th and 12th board exam results will be issued on July 15, 2026. CBSE Date Sheet 2026 OUT

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially published the tentative CBSE Exam Date sheet 2026 PDF for students in Class 10 and 12. For the very first time the CBSE board has released the timetable before diwali. Early release of the CBSE Board Exam date sheet PDF will give students an edge in making a strategy to complete the syllabus in time. The board has also stated that evaluation work will begin 10 days following each exam, and Board exam results will be processed in a timely way in May / June. While these are potential confirmed dates, the final date sheet will be provided once schools submit their final applicant list.

CBSE 2026 Exam Date Sheet changes

1. There are two exam windows each year.

Instead of a single high-stakes exam, the CBSE will henceforth offer two Board exam windows for Class 10.
The CBSE class 10th main exam is in mid-February.
The second board exam in May will act as both an improvement opportunity and a compartment exam for failed topics.

2. Complete syllabus for both exams

The February and May exams will cover the whole academic year’s course, with no changes to the exam format or marking scheme.

The Class 10 exams will start on February 17, 2026, with Mathematics, and end on March 9, 2026, with other language subjects, tentatively, and music papers. Below is the entire CBSE 10th timetable –

The Class 12 exams will also begin on February 17, 2026, with Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, Shorthand papers, and continue until April 9, 2026, with Sanskrit and other subjects. For the 2026 CBSE exams, students need to study for two years, have 75% attendance, and take part in internal assessments. If they don’t, they’ll need to repeat the year.
