The National Law University Delhi is going to conduct the law entrance examination on December 14, 2025. AILET 2026 Exam Date
The AILET 2026 exam will be held on December 14, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM. Candidates who are aspiring for the AILET 2026 exam must note the date and plan their preparation according to it. The notification issued by NLU Delhi reads, “The National Law University, Delhi, will conduct the “All India Law Entrance Test- 2026 (AILET-2026)” for admission to the Five-Year B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programs for the Academic Year 2026-27 on December 14, 2025 (Sunday) from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at all India level”.

AILET Admission Process 2026
The AILET 2026 exam admission process involves five major milestones. All these important steps of the AILET admission process are discussed below.
Step 1: Registering Online
The steps involved in applying for the AILET 2026 exam will include registration, completing a thorough application form, submitting supporting documentation, and paying an application fee, among other things. Candidates who want to take the AILET 2026 exam must complete the application form and meet the course-specific eligibility requirements before the deadline.
Step 2: Admit Card Download for AILET Exam
Admit cards are sent by NLU Delhi to applicants who successfully register for the exam. On the day of the exam, candidates must have their AILET 2026 hall ticket along with any government photo ID card to the exam center. It is not permitted for any candidate to show up for the exam while carrying the admit card.
Step 3: AILET Exam
Applicants must show up for the exam at the location designated on their admit card, which is also known as the exam center. At least one hour before the exam, candidates must appear at the exam locations of December 14, 2025.
Step 4: Result Declaration
A month after the exam is administered, NLU Delhi typically releases the AILET results. Candidates who pass the exam have their All India Ranks (AIRs), sectional scores, and overall scores listed on their scorecards.
Step 5: Counseling

AILET Eligibility Criteria for BA LLB Program
The AILET exam eligibility requirements for the 5-year integrated law program is given below.
- If you fall under the General category, you have to have passed the test and received at least 45% of the possible marks in your Class XII or equivalent.
- You need to receive at least 40% of the possible marks in your Higher Secondary test if you belong to the SC, ST, or Persons with Disabilities group.
- Foreign nationals must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (also known as the 10+2) with at least 65% of the possible marks, or a comparable exam.
- You can still apply and take the test even if you’re waiting on your Class XII results.
- There is no upper age bar to apply for the exam
AILET Eligibility Requirements for LLM Course
- An applicant must have earned an LL.B. or an equivalent degree from an accredited university with at least 50% of the possible marks (45% for SC/ST/Persons with Disability category) in order to be eligible to apply for the LL.M. Program.
- Candidates waiting for their LLB result are also eligible for the exam.
- There is no upper age limit criteria for the AILET exam.
AILET Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria for PhD program
- To apply for the PhD program, applicants must have completed their LLM program from a recognized educational institution.
- Applicants in their final year of LLM are also eligible to apply

AILET 2026 Syllabus
NLU has prescribed a standard syllabus for the AILET 2026 exam on its official portal. Candidates must only study from the topics mentioned in the standard syllabus by the NLU. The brief introduction of sections in AILET syllabus for the UG programs is given below.
- English Language: This portion evaluates your understanding, vocabulary, grammar, and analytical abilities. You should expect questions about reading comprehension, sentence completion, error correction, and critical reasoning.
- Current Affairs and General Knowledge: This portion evaluates your knowledge of current events, Indian and world affairs, history, geography, politics, economics, and science.
- Logical Reasoning: This portion assesses your ability to analyse data, recognise patterns, draw conclusions, and solve problems. Expect questions about syllogisms, analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, puzzles, and critical thinking.
AILET Exam Pattern 2026
As per the AILET Exam pattern, there are three sections in the paper, including Current Events and General Knowledge, English Language, and Logical Reasoning. There will be a total of 150 questions in the exam. The time limit for the exam will be 120 minutes, i.e., 2 hours. AILET 2026 Answer Key
The National Law University of Delhi publishes the AILET Answer Key in two phases: the provisional and final answer keys. The answer key will contain the correct answers to all of the questions answered in the AILET 2026 examination. Using the answer key, candidates can project their predicted score by comparing their responses to the official answer key. The institute will first release the provisional answer key for AILET 2026, followed by an option to submit objections, in case of dissatisfaction. The final AILET 2026 answer key will be issued once the objections have been reviewed by the board.
AILET Exam Result
National Law University Delhi will release the AILET 2026 results online a few days after the exam on its official website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. NLU Delhi will provide AILET 2026 exam statistics along with the results, including registration and participation numbers by category and state, alongside the results. AILET 2026 Counselling
The National Law University Delhi will begin AILET counselling 2026 in the Last week of December 2026 for admission to BA LLB, BCom LLB, and LLM programs. To participate in the counselling process, candidates must visit the portal at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in and complete the counselling registration form, and pay the registration Fee
Once the counselling registration process is completed, the institution will disclose the AILET 2026 merit lists for the various rounds. Candidates whose names appear on the merit lists must pay the admission fee, get their documents confirmed, and report to NLU Delhi according to the counselling timetable.
