Question

The sum of two angles is 155° and their difference is π/2. The value of the greater angle (in radians) is:

A.

53π72\frac{53\pi}{72}

B.

49π72\frac{49\pi}{72}

C.

47π72\frac{47\pi}{72}

D.

51π72\frac{51\pi}{72}

Correct option is B

Given:

The sum of two angles is 155° and their difference is π/2.

Concept Used:

π =180°

Solution:

Let value of angle = a,b

According to question

a+b= 155°----eq(1)

a-b= 90°-------eq(2)

adding eq(1) and eq(2) we get

2a =155°+90°

a=245×π2×180\frac{245\times\pi}{2\times180} =49π72\frac{49\pi}{72}

a is the largest angle because a- b is a positive value(π/2).

value of a=49π72\frac{49\pi}{72}
