The area of an isosceles right angle triangle is 81 cm2. Find the length of its hypotenuse.
Question

The area of an isosceles right angle triangle is 81 cm2. Find the length of its hypotenuse.

A.

16 cm

B.

18 cm

C.

14 cm

D.

22 cm

Correct option is B

Given:

Area of the isosceles right-angle triangle = 81 cm²

Formula Used:

For an isosceles right-angle triangle, if a is the length of the equal sides, then:

Area = (1/2) * a²

The hypotenuse of the triangle is given by the Pythagorean theorem:

Hypotenuse = a√2

Solution:

Area of triangle

(1/2) * a² = 81

 a² = 162

a = √162 = 9√2 cm

 Now, using the Pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse:

Hypotenuse = a√2 = 9√2 * √2 = 9 * 2 = 18 cm
