Find the area (in cm2) of a triangle whose length of each side is 7 cm, 24 cm and 0.25 m.
Question

Find the area (in cm2) of a triangle whose length of each side is 7 cm, 24 cm and 0.25 m.

A.

84

B.

72

C.

42

D.

56

Correct option is A

Given:

Side 1 = 7 cm

Side 2 = 24 cm

Side 3 = 0.25 m = 25 cm (conversion from meters to centimeters)

Formula Used:

Semi-perimeter (s) = a+b+c2\frac{a + b + c}{2}

Using Heron’s Formula:

Area of triangle} = s(sa)(sb)(sc)\sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

Solution:

Convert all sides to cm:

a=7 cm,b=24 cm,c=25 cm a = 7 \text{ cm},\quad b = 24 \text{ cm},\quad c = 25 \text{ cm}

s = 7+24+252=562=28 cm \frac{7 + 24 + 25}{2} = \frac{56}{2} = 28 \text{ cm}

Area of triangle = 28(287)(2824)(2825)\sqrt{28(28 - 7)(28 - 24)(28 - 25)}

=28×21×4×3= \sqrt{28 \times 21 \times 4 \times 3}

= 7056\sqrt{7056} = 84 cm2
