UP Home Guard Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2025
To get selected for the UP Home Guard post, candidates must go through a three-stage selection process — Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Document Verification & Medical Examination.
The Written Exam will have 150 questions covering General Knowledge, General Hindi, Numerical & Mental Ability, and Mental Aptitude/IQ/Reasoning Ability. Only those who qualify for the written exam will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test.

UP Home Guard Exam Pattern and Selection Process 2025
The UP Home Guard Exam 2025 consists of multiple stages to ensure transparency and merit-based recruitment.
Written Examination
- The written exam will carry 100 marks and will be of 2 hours duration.
- The exam will be objective-type (multiple-choice).
- The written paper will test General Knowledge and related subjects.
- The syllabus and question distribution will be finalized by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB).
Preparation of Merit List
- The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the written exam and additional marks for preference qualifications such as NCC, Scout & Guide certificates, Disaster Management training, or a valid driving license.
- Candidates will be shortlisted district-wise based on reservation norms and the number of available vacancies.
Document Verification and Physical Standards Test (PST)
Candidates shortlisted from the merit list will undergo document verification and physical standards measurement.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Male candidates must complete a 4.8 km run in 28 minutes.
- Female candidates must complete a 2.4 km run in 16 minutes.
- The PET will be of qualifying nature; no marks will be awarded for it.
Medical Examination and Character Verification
Candidates who qualify in all stages will undergo a medical examination to ensure physical and mental fitness, followed by police verification before final enrollment.
