TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the TNPSC Group 1 include two prime distinctions- Age Limit and Educational Qualification. Check the details of the eligibility criteria in the space below.
Age Limit
The age limit for various posts, as of 1st July 2024, is as follows:
Assistant Commissioner: The maximum age for candidates applying for the Assistant Commissioner position should not exceed 34 years.
District Educational Officer:
- For Open Market Candidates: Candidates from the open market should not have completed 32 years of age.
- For Teachers employed in recognized aided Secondary Schools and Higher Secondary Schools: Teachers employed in recognized aided Secondary Schools and Higher Secondary Schools have a maximum age limit of 42 years.

1. A Master’s degree from any University recognized by the University Grants Commission in the State or a degree of equivalent standard in any one of the following subjects namely Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce, Tamil and English. 2. Should have studied Tamil under Part-I or Part-II of the Intermediate or Pre-University Course or Higher Secondary Course. 3. Bachelor of Teaching or Bachelor of Education from any recognized University in the State or a degree of equivalent standard. |
| b) For the Teacher candidates employed in recognized aided secondary schools and higher secondary schools:
1. A Master’s Degree from any University recognized by the University Grants Commission in the State or a Degree of equivalent standard in any one of the following subjects namely Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, History, Commerce, Tamil and English. 2. Should have studied Tamil under Part-I or Part-II of the Intermediate or Pre University Course or Higher Secondary Course. 3. Teaching experience for not less than twelve years in a recognized school after acquiring the degree of Bachelor of Teaching or equivalent qualification. |
TNPSC Group 1 Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
The TNPSC Group 1 Selection Process is as follows:
- Preliminary Examination: This is an Objective Type exam conducted to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.
- Main Examination: This consists of a Written Examination and an Interview. It is conducted separately for the selection of candidates for the posts of Assistant Commissioner in the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (Administration) Service (Group I-B Service) and District Educational Officer in the Tamil Nadu School Educational Service (Group I-C Service).
