What is TNPSC?

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is a state level recruiting body which is created under Article 320 of the Constitution of India. It is responsible for conducting the various recruitments within the state including civil services (State level posts). The functions include:

TNPSC Group 1

The TNPSC Group 1 Exam is a competitive test to recruit candidates for top administrative roles in Tamil Nadu Civil Services, Police, and other Group 1 departments.

The selection process is carried out in three stages:

• Preliminary Examination: The first stage consists of objective-type questions designed to assess candidates’ general knowledge, current affairs, and aptitude.
• Main Examination: Candidates who clear the Prelims are eligible for the Mains, which is a descriptive-type exam that evaluates in-depth understanding of various subjects relevant to administrative roles.
• Interview & Certificate Verification: The final stage includes a personal interview and document verification, where candidates are evaluated on their personality, communication skills, leadership qualities, and overall suitability for public service roles.

TNPSC Group 2 Interview Posts

The TNPSC Group 2 selection process depends on the post you apply for.

• For Group 2 (Interview) posts, there are three stages – Prelims, Mains, and Interview.
• For Group 2A (Non-Interview) posts, there are only two stages – Prelims and Mains.
