The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, has issued an important notice regarding the public disclosure of scores and personal details of candidates who appeared in the final stage of various SSC examinations but were not recommended for appointment. This step is in line with the government’s policy to make recruitment data available for potential use by other employers such as PSUs and autonomous bodies.
SSC’s New Policy Non-Selected Candidates to Get an Opportunity
SSC’s new policy: non-selected candidates to get an opportunity is a big step to help talented candidates who could not get selected. It gives them another chance to get a good job in a government or private organization. This policy also helps employers find the right people for the job easily.

Purpose of the New Disclosure Policy
The main reason behind SSC’s new policy: non-selected candidates to get an opportunity is to help other employers use SSC’s database to find skilled people. Many candidates prepare hard for exams like SSC CGL, CHSL and many more and score well, but not all get selected. This new rule will help those candidates by giving them a second chance through other job offers.
What Candidate Details Will Be Disclosed
As part of this scheme, SSC will make the following details of non-recommended candidates publicly available. These details will be published in the order of Roll Numbers and may be linked to a central talent database in the future for wider access.
- Name of the candidate
- Father’s or Husband’s name
- Date of Birth
- Category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH/Minority)
- Gender
- Educational qualifications
- Total marks obtained
- Merit-based ranking
- Complete address
- Email address
Candidate Opt-Out Provision
Candidates will have the option to opt out of this public disclosure while filling out the application form. If a candidate chooses to opt out, their details will not be shared in the event they are not recommended for final selection. However, for those who do not opt out and are not selected, the Commission will upload their details on its official website.
Key Guidelines of the Disclosure Scheme
Here are some important points of this new policy:
- The scheme will apply only to exams whose final results are declared on or after November 2024.
- It will not be applicable to Selection Post Examinations.
- Only details of non-recommended candidates up to twice the number of vacancies will be made public.
- The data will remain available online for one year from the date of publication.
- Candidates are advised to retain their application forms and supporting documents for three years, as other agencies may use this data to contact or recruit them.
Disclaimer by SSC
Although SSC’s new policy: non-selected candidates to get an opportunity promotes employment, the Commission has clarified that it holds no responsibility for verifying the authenticity of the candidates’ information. It is up to the recruiting agencies to thoroughly check all documents and credentials before making any final recruitment decisions. SSC’s role is limited to providing access to the data.
