The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) has decided to introduce negative marking in the common eligibility test (CET). This marks a major change to the examination pattern for candidates appearing in various state government recruitment examinations. Candidates are advised to carefully understand the new rules before starting their preparation.
Negative Marking Introduced In Rajasthan CET Exam
The Rajasthan CET Graduate Level Examination is scheduled to be conducted in November 2026, while the CET Senior Secondary Level Examination may be held in December 2026. Lakhs of candidates from across the state are expected to appear in these examinations. The new changes , including negative marking and tougher exam pattern are expected to make the recruitment process more competitive.
CET Negative marking & Passing Marks
- A Combined Eligibility Test (CET) will include 1/3 negative marking for every incorrect answer
- Candidates will be required to secure at least 40% marks to qualify the examination.
- The board aims to ensure that only around 3 to 4 lakh candidates qualify the examination. The CET examination is expected to be comparatively difficulty. To achieve this, negative marking will be implemented in the CET exam.
CET Validity Extended to 3 Years
Candidates who qualify in the CET examination will become eligible for around 19 to 23 major state recruitments for following posts such as:
- Patwari, Village Development Officer (VDO)
- Junior Accountant,
- Lower Division Clerk
- Platoon Commander
- Hostel Superintendent,
- Police Constable.
Earlier, the validity of the CET certificate was valid for only one year. It has now been extended to three years, which is expected to benefit more than 20 lakh candidates across the state.
