RRB Section Controller 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria include educational qualification, age limit, nationality, and medical fitness. Candidates who fail to meet any of these requirements will not be considered for recruitment.

Educational Qualification

To apply for the Section Controller post, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university. The degree should be obtained on or before the last date of application. Candidates awaiting their final results are generally not eligible to apply.

Age Limit (1/7/2026)

The prescribed age limit for the RRB Section Controller post is 20 to 33 years. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for age relaxation as per the Government of India norms.

Medical Standard

Candidates must qualify the prescribed A-2 Medical Standard, which includes satisfactory vision, colour vision, and overall physical fitness. Medical fitness is verified during the final stage of the recruitment process before appointment.

Nationality

The applicant must be:

A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and certain other countries with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

RRB Section Controller Selection Process

The RRB Section Controller 2026 selection process includes four stages. Candidates must successfully clear each stage to be considered for final appointment.

Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Document Verification (DV)
Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be shortlisted for the CBAT. Those clearing the aptitude test will be called for document verification and a medical fitness examination. The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the examination and fulfilment of all eligibility requirements.

The RRB Section Controller CBT Exam 2026 will have 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks. The exam will cover Analytical & Mathematical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning. Candidates will get 120 minutes to complete the test.
