RRB NTPC Selection Process 2025, Check All Stages of NTPC Exam

The RRB NTPC Selection Process 2025 is a comprehensive, multi-stage recruitment procedure conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards to fill various Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) posts across Indian Railways. Designed to assess candidates’ knowledge, skills, and suitability for different roles, the selection process includes written examinations, skill tests, document verification, and medical fitness checks. This structured approach ensures that only the most eligible and capable candidates are selected for these prestigious government positions.

RRB NTPC Selection Process 2025

The RRB NTPC 2025 Selection Process includes multiple stages: first, a screening Computer-Based Test (CBT 1), followed by a more detailed CBT 2. Depending on the post, candidates then take either a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) or a Typing Skill Test. Successful candidates undergo Document Verification and a Medical Examination before final appointment, which is based on merit and meeting all eligibility criteria. Below is a detailed explanation of each stage:

Stage 1: First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 1)

The First Stage CBT is common for all posts under the RRB NTPC recruitment. The test duration is 90 minutes and includes three sections: General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. This stage primarily serves as a screening test, and the marks obtained are normalized to shortlist candidates for the Second Stage CBT.

Although it is qualifying in nature, performing well in CBT 1 is crucial for progression in the recruitment process. To enhance their chances, candidates are strongly advised to practice previous years’ RRB NTPC question papers.

Stage 2: Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 2)

Candidates who qualify in the first stage are shortlisted for CBT 2 in a ratio of 20 times the number of vacancies, based on their performance in CBT 1. The duration of the CBT 2 exam is 90 minutes and it comprises three sections: General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. This stage is more in-depth and plays a critical role in determining the candidates who will move forward in the selection process. Those who clear CBT 2 are then shortlisted for the Typing Skill Test or Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), depending on the post they have applied for.

Stage 3: Typing Skill Test / Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

The third stage of the RRB NTPC selection process includes either the Typing Skill Test or the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), depending on the post applied for. The CBAT is conducted specifically for candidates applying for the posts of Station Master and Traffic Assistant, and it is designed to assess their aptitude and mental alertness necessary for operational roles.

On the other hand, the Typing Skill Test is applicable for posts such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, and Senior Time Keeper. Shortlisting for this stage is done at eight times the number of vacancies based on performance in CBT 2. Candidates appearing for the Typing Skill Test must meet the prescribed minimum typing speed to qualify.

Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)

Candidates who successfully clear CBT 2 and the applicable Typing Skill Test or CBAT are invited for Document Verification (DV). The shortlisting for DV is done based on merit and the number of available vacancies.

Important Points:

  • Candidates must present original documents for verification, including educational certificates, identity proof, category certificates (if applicable), and others as specified in the notification.
  • Final appointment is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit as per the prescribed medical standards for the post.

Stage 5: Medical Examination

Candidates must undergo a medical fitness test to confirm they meet the physical and health standards necessary for the post they have applied for.

Key Highlights:

  • The medical examination evaluates vision, overall physical health, and fitness levels specific to job requirements.
  • Final appointment is granted by the concerned Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) only after successful medical clearance and document verification
