During the review, the Ministry highlighted the significant progress made in railway recruitments over the past year. According to official data, Indian Railways recruited 43,781 candidates during FY 2025-26 against 47,084 notified vacancies across various categories as metioned below:

  • Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP): 18,799 vacancies
  • Technicians: 14,298 vacancies
  • Junior Engineers (JE): 7,951 vacancies
  • Constables: 4,208 vacancies
  • Sub-Inspectors: 452 vacancies
  • Paramedical Staff: 1,376 vacancies

Railway Recruitment Process Reviewed

The Railway Minister reviewed the ongoing RRB recruitment process and emphasised:

Some exams have finished their first rounds and are waiting for final results, including:

  • NTPC Graduate level (8,113 posts)
  • NTPC Under-Graduate level (3,445 posts) – results expected around June 2026
  • Ministerial & Isolated Categories (1,036 posts)
  • New Technician hiring (6,238 posts)
  • New Paramedical hiring (434 posts)

Railway Minister Pushed for Technology-Driven Recruitment

The Minister said the yearly recruitment calendar has helped candidates prepare better, since they know what’s coming in advance. He also asked for more exams to be done using tablets and computers (CBT) to make the process faster and easier.

Exams are already held in 15 languages, across many cities and shifts, so candidates from all over India and from different language backgrounds get a fair chance.
