Railway Station Master Exam 2026 – English Introduced First Time, Big Change in Exam Pattern

The Railway Board has announced a major change in the recruitment process and exam pattern for the Station Master post from 2026 onwards. The recruitment for Railway Station Master will be conducted separately from other NTPC posts, through a dedicated Centralised Employment Notification (CEN).

Along with this announcement, RRB has announced a 4-stage selection process, the latest exam pattern & syllabus, and added English Comprehension for the first time in the exam.

From now onwards, there will only be 1 CBT instead of 2. CBT will be followed by CBAT, Document Verification and Medical Examination. Check old vs latest exam pattern below and how to prepare.

Railway Station Master Exam Pattern 2026: Major Changes

One of the most significant change is the introduction of English Reading Comprehension in the Station Master CBT. Candidates will now have to answer comprehension-based questions from passages given in English.

Along with English comprehension, the revised syllabus introduces Basic Science, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and a revised Logical and Mental Reasoning structure.
