9,000 Jobs Already Filled in Q1 of FY 2025-26
According to the Ministry of Railways, over 9,000 appointments have already been made in the first quarter of FY 2025-26. These appointments were made through rigorous Computer-Based Tests (CBTs) conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). Since November 2024, RRBs have conducted CBTs for more than 1.86 crore candidates across seven different recruitment notifications, covering 55,197 vacancies.
Railways Gears Up for 50,000 More Appointments
As per the official statement, RRBs are now prepared to offer appointments to more than 50,000 candidates by the end of the financial year. This aligns with the national recruitment calendar, which aims to enhance transparency and facilitate timely recruitment in the public sector.
1.08 Lakh Vacancies Since 2024
Since 2024, the RRBs have issued notifications for 1.08 lakh vacancies, reflecting the Railways’ commitment to filling critical roles efficiently. Further, another 50,000 appointments are also planned for FY 2026-27, showing a sustained hiring approach. Check the notice attached to the article for more details on this.
Fair Exams with Aadhaar and Jammers
To maintain fairness and eliminate malpractices, E-KYC-based Aadhaar authentication is now mandatory for candidates. This is the first time such a measure has been implemented in exams of this scale, achieving over 95% success. Additionally, 100% deployment of jammers at exam centers is being carried out to prevent electronic cheating.
Focus on Accessibility and Transparency
To ensure inclusive access, RRBs are now allotting exam centers closer to candidates’ hometowns, with special preference given to women and PwBD candidates. This move has also led to an increase in the number of exam centers and the deployment of more staff to facilitate fair examinations.
