Punjab SSSB Steno Typist Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates who want to apply for PSSSB Steno Typist Recruitment 2026 must fulfill the educational qualification, age limit, and skill requirements.

1. Bachelor’s Degree: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or Institution.
2. Computer Proficiency

• A 120-hour course with hands-on experience in PC/IT (Office Productivity or Desktop Publishing) from a recognized/ISO 9001 certified institution.
• OR an ‘O’ Level certificate from DOEACC.

3. Punjabi Language 

• Must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject.
• Mandatory Qualifying Test: Candidates must pass a qualifying test in Punjabi Language (Matric standard) conducted by the Board, securing at least 50% marks.

Age limit

• As of 1/01/2026, eligible candidates must be age between 18 and 37 years.
• The upper age limit shall be different for different categories: SC/ST- 42 years, State Govt Employee- 45 years, ,PWD candidates – 47 years and widows, divorcees and certain categories of married woman- 40 years

PSSSB Steno Typist Selection Process 2026

The PSSSB Steno Typist Selection Process consists of multiple stages a written examination, stenography test, document verification and medical examination.

1. Punjabi Language Test (Qualifying): An objective-type test. Candidates must score at least 50% to qualify. Failure here disqualifies the candidate regardless of other scores.

2. Punjabi Stenography Skill Test:

1. • Speed: 80 words per minute.
   • Total Words: 400 words (in two passages of 200 words each).
   • Transcription: 15 minutes to transcribe.
   • Mistakes: 8% errors are excusable.

3. Merit List:

• • • Merit will be prepared based on mistakes in the Stenography Test (in ascending order of mistakes, from 0 to 32).

    • Tie-Breaker Rules (in order):

         2. Higher percentage in the prescribed educational qualification.
