As per the official advertisement, around 250 candidates will be selected for the fellowship, based on the availability of funds and in line with the guidelines of the Department of Health Research (DHR). The DHR-BRET 2025 offers an excellent opportunity for aspiring researchers to secure a Junior Research Fellowship. Candidates should note that the fellowship will be awarded only after qualifying in the test and obtaining placement in a recognized Medical College, Hospital, University, National Laboratory, Institution of National Importance, or ICMR Institute/Centre, under one of the following categories:

  • UGC/INI: Pursuit of a doctoral degree at UGC-recognized universities/research institutionsor Institutes of National Importance in India.
  • ICMR–AcSIR: Pursuit of a doctoral degree at any of the 27 ICMR Institutes/Centres withPh.D. registration under the AcSIR-ICMR Faculty of Medical Research.

DHR BRET Application Fees 2025

The application fee for the DHR-BRET 2025 must be paid online at the time of completing the application form, application fee can be paid through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking and Applications submitted without the prescribed fee will not be accepted and will be rejected. DHR BRET Eligbility Criteria 2025

Candidates applying for DHR Biomedical Research Eligibility Test 2025 must fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

Age Limit

The age limit for admission to the eligibility test is 35 years as on 21 November 2025. Candidates will be given age relaxation as follows:

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for DHR BRET 2025 must hold an M.Sc. or equivalent postgraduate (PG) degree such as M.Tech or M.Pharma in any of the following fields:

A minimum of 55% marks in the PG examination is required for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, and PwBD candidates need at least 50% marks.

Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the final year (IV/VI Semester or final year, depending on the system) of their PG programme during the 2025 session are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category. Such candidates must submit the attestation format provided in Appendix E, duly signed and stamped by the Head of their Department or Institute.

These candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear for the test and will be considered eligible for the JRF award only after submitting proof of having passed their Master’s degree examination with the required marks.

DHR BRET Exam Pattern 2025

  • The DHR BRET Exam will be conducted in an Online Computer Based Test (CBT) format.
  • The exam will be conducted in the English language only.
  • The exam will consist of 150 multiple-choice-questions (MCQs).
  • 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • –0.25 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.

DHR BRET Selection Process 2025
