Pharma) is the only valid qualification for the appointment of pharmacists in Bihar. This decision clears the way for recruitment to 2,473 pharmacist posts. The controversy regarding eligibility had been ongoing since 2019 and has now been conclusively settled by the apex court.

The Supreme Court upheld the Bihar Pharmacists Cadre Rules, 2014, allowing the state to proceed with the recruitment of 2,473 pharmacists. The court dismissed appeals challenging the eligibility criteria and confirmed that the appointment process can now move forward without legal hindrance.

The bench, comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, ruled that the state government is within its rights to prescribe eligibility criteria and exclude higher qualifications if a lower qualification is specifically mandated for a post.
