Bihar Police SI Eligibility Criteria 2025

To be eligible for the Bihar Police SI post, candidates must meet criteria related to:

• Educational Qualification – Required academic degree from a recognized university.
• Age Limit – Minimum and maximum age as per category with applicable relaxations.
• Nationality – Only Indian citizens are eligible.
• Physical Standards – Includes physical efficiency and standard tests.
• Number of Attempts – Guidelines on how many times a candidate can apply.
• Work Experience – Whether prior experience is required or advantageous

Educational Qualification

• A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university is mandatory.
• The degree must be obtained on or before the last date of application.
• Final-year students awaiting results are not eligible, unless they can produce proof of graduation during document verification.
• Degrees from universities recognized by the UGC or other relevant authorities are valid.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2025)

Note: Age relaxations apply as per government rules. Candidates must provide valid certificates for claiming relaxation. The age criteria differ by category:

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

After qualifying the Mains Examination, candidates are shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Performance in the PET is critical, as it determines eligibility for the next stage of recruitment. The test evaluates a candidate’s speed, strength, and endurance through multiple physical activities, with separate standards for male and female candidates.

Candidates must complete each task within the given attempts and time limits to qualify. Failure in any of the tests may result in disqualification.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates who clear the PET are required to undergo the Physical Standard Test (PST). The PST is qualifying in nature, and marks are not awarded. It ensures that all selected candidates meet the minimum physical requirements essential for police duties.

Additional Requirement for Females: Minimum weight of 48 kg across all categories.

Both PET and PST are mandatory stages of the selection process. Only candidates who meet the physical and endurance standards are eligible for document verification and medical examination.

Nationality

• Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
• Although not compulsory, Bihar domicile candidates may receive preference during selection.
• Proof of nationality (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, etc.) will be required.

Number of Attempts

• BPSSC has not put a limit on the number of attempts.
• However, candidates can only appear as long as they are within the prescribed age limits.

Work Experience

• No prior work experience is mandatory.
• However, candidates with law enforcement, defense, or related field experience may find it beneficial during PET and interview rounds.
