Bihar Cabinet Approve 22,000+ Anganwadi Workers Posts, Notification Soon

The Bihar Cabinet, under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has given approval for recruitment to more than 22,000 Anganwadi Workers (Sevikas) and Helpers (Sahayikas) across the state, creating a major opportunity for local women to gain community-based employment linked to child development and nutrition services. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, July 29. The official recruitment notification is expected to be released soon with detailed eligibility criteria, vacancy distribution, and application guidelines.

Following the Cabinet’s approval of the Anganwadi Worker/Helper Selection Guidelines, 2026, the Bihar government will fill 22,891 vacancies across the state, including 6,141 Anganwadi Worker posts and 16,750 Anganwadi Helper posts, according to the Social Welfare Department.

The new selection guidelines aim to fill all 22,891 vacant Anganwadi posts while ensuring more women from the respective local areas get an opportunity to be appointed as Anganwadi Workers and Helpers. During the same meeting, the Bihar Cabinet also approved water supply projects in Lakhisarai and Kishanganj under the AMRUT 2.0 Mission.

Reacting to the Cabinet’s decisions, the Chief Minister said the approved projects will ensure clean and safe drinking water for lakhs of families while strengthening urban infrastructure, adding that his government is committed to providing quality drinking water to every household and fulfilling the goal of a developed Bihar.

The cabinet also cleared a proposal to establish new cooperative sugar mills and sugarcane by‑product industries at the sites of the closed sugar mill complexes in Raiyam (Darbhanga) and Sakri (Madhubani), aiming to revive industrial activity and support the sugarcane economy in these regions.

The Cabinet also cleared the Road Construction Department’s proposal to build two high-level reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridges on NH‑333A in Jamui district. Under this plan, a new bridge over the Kuel river at Nariyana Ghat will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 93.82 crore, while another bridge over the Mangobandar–Suknar river is proposed with an estimated outlay of Rs 55.96 crore.

Referring to these projects, the CM wrote on X that they will enhance regional connectivity, ensure smoother transportation, and give fresh momentum to local trade, agriculture, and economic activity, while reaffirming that his government is firmly committed to developing modern, resilient infrastructure.
