Probationary Officer (Generalist):

Candidates must hold a Graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification approved by the Central Government.

Probationary Officer (Specialist – Rajbhasha/Hindi):

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Hindi and English with the following specifications:

• Master’s degree in any discipline with English and Hindi as core/elective/major subjects at the bachelor’s degree level
• Minimum 55% marks for SC/ST candidates and 60% for others
• Or a Master’s degree in both English and Hindi/Hindi translation with the same percentage criteria from a recognized university

ECGC PO Nationality Criteria 2026

To apply for the ECGC PO exam 2026, candidates must satisfy one of the following nationality criteria:

• Citizen of India
• Subject of Nepal
• Subject of Bhutan
• Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
• Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam), intending to permanently settle in India.
