The eligibility requirements differ according to the Assistant Director post.

• For the Forensic Science Laboratory post- candidates need a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification in Engineering or Science disciplines along with 5 years of laboratory experience.
• For the Economics and Statistical Service- candidates must have a relevant postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science, as prescribed for the post.
• For the Tribal Welfare State Service- candidates require a First or Second Class Master’s Degree in Social Anthropology, Sociology, or Social Work, along with two journal publications as prescribed in the notification.

APPSC Assistant Director Computer Proficiency Test 2026

A Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) is mandatory for the Assistant Director posts in the Forensic Science Laboratory Service and Tribal Welfare State Service. The test is of 60 minutes and carries 100 marks and assesses practical computer proficiency. The brief notification for the Economics and Statistical Service does not mention a CPT.

The salary differs according to the service. The pay scale for Assistant Director in the Forensic Science Laboratory Service and Economics and Statistical Service is ₹57,100 to ₹1,47,760.
