Given:

Population 2 years ago = 1,10,000

1st year: Increase of 10%

2nd year: Decrease of 10%

Find present population.

Formula Used:

Population after 2 year = Original Population × (1+increase100)×(1decrease100)\left(1 + \frac{increase}{100} \right) \times \left(1 - \frac{decrease}{100} \right)​​

Solution:

Population after 2 year ;

= 1,10,000 × (1+10100)×(110100)\left(1 + \frac{10}{100} \right) \times \left(1 - \frac{10}{100} \right) 

= 110000 × 110100×90100\frac{110}{100} \times \frac{90}{100} 

= 108900
