Question

Two partners A and B have started business with the capitals of ₹6,000 and ₹8,000 respectively. If they made profit of ₹5,600 then the share (in ₹) of A is:

A.

₹3,200

B.

₹2,800

C.

₹2,100

D.

₹2,400

Correct option is D

Given:

Capital invested by A = ₹6,000

Capital invested by B = ₹8,000

Total profit = ₹5,600

Required: Find the share of A in the profit.

Solution:

Share of AShare of B=Capital of ACapital of B=60008000=34\frac{\text{Share of A}}{\text{Share of B}} = \frac{\text{Capital of A}}{\text{Capital of B}} = \frac{6000}{8000} = \frac{3}{4}

Total parts of the profit:

3 + 4 = 7 parts

Each part of the profit:

Value of each part =56007=800= \frac{5600}{7} = 800

A's share in the profit:

A’s share =3×800=2,400= 3 \times 800 = ₹2,400
