Question

Two angles of a triangle are in the ratio 1 : 2 and the sum of these angles is equal to the third angle. What is the measure of the smallest angle?

A.

30°

B.

40°

C.

25°

D.

20°

Correct option is A

Information:

Sum of all angle of a triangle is 180°
Solution:

Let the two angles of the triangle be x and 2x

Use the fact that the sum of all angles in a triangle is 180°
According to Question:
Third angle = x + 2x = 3x

Now, using the property that the sum of the angles in a triangle is 180°, we have:
x + 2x + 3x = 180°
6x = 180°
x = 180°6\frac{180°}{6} = 30°
Thus, the smallest angle = 30°
